Berlin-based South Korean artist Young-jun Tak’s 2023 film ‘Love Your Clean Feet on Thursday’, will be presented at the upcoming St Moritz Art Film Festival, on 15 September.
The film challenges binary presentation of genders through queer male bodies and movements. It juxtaposes the hyper-masculinity, staged by Spanish Legion soldiers’ ritual, and the hyper-femininity, worshiped by male dancers, lifting up and carrying the female protagonist in Kenneth MacMillan’s ballet “Manon”.
Film Still, Young-jun Tak, ‘Love Your Clean Feet on Thursday’, 2023, single-channel 4K video, color, 5.1 surround sound: 18 min 53 sec. Supported by Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Burger Collection, Die Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien, Stiftung Kunstfonds and NEUSTARTplus-Stipendium.
