Group Show: Containment Field

In Containment Field, states of transition or modes of restraint are examined. The presentation explores conditions of holding during these transitory periods whether physical or otherwise – from digital image transferance, to sex and gender experiences, to Soviet tattooing rituals. Containment Field seeks to explore these points of uncertainty and reveal the sense of freedom that comes with potential resolution.
The trapping or holding in stasis of imagery and attitude is presented in various forms throughout Containment Field. In this exhibition the end result of an idea is considered less important while the turbulent process and inevitable rumination on the road to success is laid bare for the viewer to confront and eventually question the substance within. What form does an image take as it becomes tangible? How does one reconcile time in forcedconfinement? Can the expression of the nuances of modernidentity take form in contradictory yet beautiful materials?
